It’s the midpoint of summer and one of the best weekends of the year. From fireworks to free events, we’ve got your guide to the 4th of July in RiverSouth!
Military Appreciation Days & Fantastic Fireworks at Valleyfair
This 4th of July weekend, it’s all about red, white and thank you at Valleyfair with free admission for current and retired military service members during Military Appreciation Days July 2 – 5. Service members can also take advantage of a special ticket offer for friends and family! Looking for fireworks? Enjoy the best views from Planet Snoopy Plaza as Valleyfair lights up the night with Fantastic Fireworks Friday and Saturday nights throughout the month of July.
Fireworks Spectacular & Wiener Dog Races at Canterbury Park
They’re not kidding when they call it the Fireworks Spectacular! Canterbury Park fills the sky with an amazing display on Friday, July 3. Live racing starts at 4 pm, with music by Brat Pack Radio between races. The Fireworks Spectacular presented by Kwik Trip starts at approximately 10 pm. The 4th of July features live racing starting at 12:45 pm with free Hormel hot dogs and Canterbury Park’s famous Wiener Dog Warm Up Race! Twelve wiener dogs will race on the main track between horse races. And if you’re feeling hungry and competitive, pre-register for the hot dog eating contest! Admission on July 3 and 4 is only $8, and kids 17 and under are free. Plan a family day and take part in free face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo both days.
Rock and Rockets & The Beach Boys at Mystic Lake
Rock and Rockets is Mystic’s Lake’s red, white and blue birthday bash that starts with fun and ends with fun, fun, fun! From corn on the cob to cheese curds and Grain Belt Beer, you’ll find summertime favorites that make living—and eating—in the U.S.A. so great! The free outdoor festival runs from 3 to 11 pm with fun for the entire family, from an arcade tent for the young to a free slot tournament for the young at heart. It’s not a party without free live music! Kick up your heels, sandals or flip flops (it’s summer after all!) to local favorites Viva Knievel and Maiden Dixie. And nothing says “all-American” like one of the greatest rock and roll bands from the land of surf and sun—The Beach Boys. The surf rock pioneers will perform at 7:30 pm on the lawn at Mystic Lake under a canopy of stars. Tickets start at $32 for this special outdoor concert. Of course it’s not the 4th of July without fireworks! Get ready to “ooh” and “ahh” to a phenomenal fireworks display at 10 pm. Bring your appetite, family and lawn chairs or blankets to Rock and Rockets for a festival that celebrates the all-American spirit.
You bring the sunscreen and we’ll bring the fun! See you this weekend in RiverSouth.
