The best in entertainment is in RiverSouth this summer, and July is action-packed with great live music, a three-day rib festival, extreme racing, corgis and cupcakes, nationally recognized waterslides and family fun.

Is there any place better than Valleyfair to be a kid? Head over every Wednesday in July for fun events and activities just for kids! Wind down your day at Valleyfair with family films under the stars during Midway Movies every Thursday evening in July. Make sure to follow Valleyfair on Facebook and Twitter for a chance to vote for your favorite movies. Midway Movies is free with park admission.

See the stars under a canopy of stars at the Mystic Amphitheater. Dust off your cowboy hats and round up your rowdy friends for Hank Williams Jr. Thursday, July 14 on the iHeartMedia Stage. The rebel country rocker will perform classic hits like “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound,” “My Name is Bocephus” and “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.” Tickets are on sale now starting at $39.

Music festivals are a big deal in Minnesota, and one of the biggest is Prior Lake Rotary’s Lakefront Music Fest in beautiful Lakefront Park in Prior Lake July 15 – 16. Enjoy live music all day, with headliners O.A.R on July 15 and Martina McBride on July 16.
Extreme DayExtreme Race Day is back at Canterbury Park on Saturday, July 16, and it’s going to be a real zoo. With camel, ostrich and zebra races sprinkled in between a unique slate of horse races, it’s the wackiest day all year at Canterbury Park. Plan to arrive early, because it’s always a fan favorite. The first race starts at 12:45 p.m.

Waterslide_imageHead to Soak City Waterpark at Valleyfair for a ride down Breakers Plunge, the nation’s tallest twin free-fall body slides. Named as one of Travel Channel’s seven US waterslides to ride this summer, Breakers Plunge is a thrill-seeker’s dream, sending riders down a 90-foot, 65-degree angle at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour! The slides are also a featured attraction on the current season of the Travel Channel’s Xtreme Waterparks, which premiered on this summer. Soak City Waterpark is included with admission to Valleyfair.

July sizzles at Mystic Lake as The Great Midwest Rib Fest returns for its third year July 22 – 24. Savor summer memories with this free all-ages event. Dig into mouth-watering ribs all weekend long from the nation’s top rib cookers. Make your taste buds heard—vote for your favorite to win the Best of the Fest people’s choice award! Then dance up a storm with free concerts by Diamond Rio, Survivor and Arch Allies performing on the iHeartMedia Stage. Stay up late Friday and Saturday nights as the fun moves inside after the festival closes for free after parties featuring live entertainment. And shop The Great Midwest Art Fest all weekend long for that special something you’ve been looking for this summer.

Have a “spirited” evening at Canterbury Park during On The Rocks – A Craft Spirit Event Friday, July 22. Enjoy a night of live racing action, spirit samples from local distilleries, and upscale appetizers in the exclusive Canterbury Park Triple Crown Club. Tickets start at $60. Live Racing starts at 6:30, with spirit sampling from 6 – 9:30 PM.

Canterbury Park is known for wiener dog and bulldog races, but this year they roll out a new breed—corgi races—on Saturday, July 30! Watch as 72 of the cutest corgis around take to the main track. And if that’s not enough, Canterbury Park is sweetening the pot with a dozen of the top cupcake shops in the Twin Cities! The first race starts at 12:45 p.m.

Reminisce to 90s hits with Goo Goo Dolls with special guests Collective Soul and Tribe Society Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. on the KS95 stage. Dance under the night sky to hits like “Iris,” “Name” and “Slide.” Tickets are on sale now starting at $29.
