Celebrating the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s a bright holiday season in the Land of Big Fun. Check out our recommendations for getting in the holiday spirit, shopping for unique gifts and celebrating the New Year.

Community festivals in Prior Lake and Shakopee on December 2 are a great kickoff to the holidays. Check out the Shakopee Holiday Fest in historic downtown Shakopee and the Prior Lake Decembrrr Dazzle at Lakefront Park in downtown Prior Lake.

Mystic Lake has a star-studded lineup in the Mystic Showroom this month. On December 9, Tony Danza: Standards and Stories is an intimate cabaret of song, dance and storytelling featuring the acclaimed actor and his four-piece band. Motown legend Smokey Robinson brings his soulful stylings to the stage on December 17. Get a double dose of 80s smash hits with Eddie Money and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas on December 30. On New Year’s Eve, the party starts early with The Temptations in a special afternoon show. Later that night, rockers 3 Doors Down will take the stage for the final hours of 2016.

Shop local for stocking stuffers and more. Wozupi Tribal Gardens handcrafted beeswax candles, pure maple syrup, and small-batch honey are available at the annual Holiday Gift Sale at their cabin at 2041 140th St. NW in Prior Lake, December 12 – 16 and 19 – 23 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm. For that extra special someone, grab a gift basket or make your own. Weave together the perfect gift with Native American-made birchbark baskets. Once you experience Wozupi’s cozy cabin setting, you’ll wonder how you ever shopped anywhere else for the holidays. The organic farm is owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
