Food, Entertainment and Awesome Fireworks

From fireworks in the sky to barbeques and entertainment back on the ground, RiverSouth is the place to be for an extended Fourth of July holiday celebration.

Valleyfair starts your celebration early with a 4th of July Barbeque beginning on Saturday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 4. From 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., enjoy your favorite barbeque classics like hamburgers, hot dogs and pork sandwiches, and be sure to stop by the 4th of July Cookie Station to decorate your own baked goodness.

In addition, Valleyfair is saluting the troops with Military Days, July 1 – 4, so bring a valid active or veteran Military ID to receive free entry to the park and discounts for your family.

Two fantastic firework shows are planned at Valleyfair for you to witness the red, white and boom on both the 3rd and 4th of July. Snoopy has shared a secret that the best views to see the sky light up come from the Planet Snoopy Plaza.

Canterbury Park is recognizing America’s birthday with six consecutive days of live horse racing from June 29-July 4. On July 3, Canterbury has a special 4:00 p.m. post time, and be sure to stick around after the races to hear Maiden Dixie perform before Canterbury Park’s Fireworks Spectacular wows you in the air.

On July 4, stop in at Canterbury Park for your fill of free Hormel hot dogs as you take in another day of live horse racing accompanied by a hot dog eating contest for the adults and a cocktail wiener eating contest for the kids. And for those who just couldn’t wait, the park is previewing its highly anticipated Corgi and Wiener dog races to hold the fans over until they premiere later in the season.

Mystic Lake is celebrating America’s birthday on July 4 with their annual Rock and Rockets festival. The free for all-ages fun starts at 5:00 p.m. outside Mystic Lake. From deep-fried mac and cheese to fresh lemonade and ice-cold beer, food trucks and tents will be serving up your favorite summertime snacks and drinks.  Get your groove on to live music by local favorites Pop Rocks and Step Rockets. The skies light up at 10:00 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks display. After the fireworks fade, head inside for the after party featuring live music by Nightlights.
