Memorial Day in RiverSouth

Posted on by River South

RiverSouth is your Memorial Day weekend destination. Soak City at Valley Fair and the Running of the Bulldogs at Canterbury Park are just a few of the many ways to have fun in the Land Of Big Fun over the long holiday weekend.

Not only is it a long weekend, but it’s also the first Ladies Night of the season at Canterbury Park on Friday, May 25. Ladies, hit the track and enjoy live music from the Soul Tight Committee, food and drink specials, plus fun activities. Make an evening out of it!

Life is better at the lake and to celebrate the start of summer Mystic Lake will be giving away a boat on Memorial Day during their Splash into Summer promotion. Plus play for cool other prizes.

Slide into summer with the opening of Soak City Waterpark at Valleyfair on Saturday, May 26. It’s the coolest spot in Minnesota with numerous slides, lazy rivers and geysers. There’s also a 350,000 gallon wave pool. Grab your sunscreen and flip-flops and get ready for fun for all ages. Plus, there’s still time to get in on the fun and get your season pass. Buy your season pass before June 10 for the coolest summer ever.

Canterbury Park is your destination for family fun with their weekly Pepsi Family Day. The season kicks off Sunday, May 27 with plenty of family-friendly activities like pony rides, face painting and more. The “Little” Big Thrill Factory opens 30-minutes prior to race start times. Games and attractions are available during live racing season through September.

Have fun while helping support injured jockeys at “Leg Up Day” at Canterbury Park on Sunday, May 27. Enjoy a variety of activities while helping raise funds for the Leg Up Fund. The fund provides direct resources to Canterbury Park jockeys who are hurt while riding and helps give them a “Leg Up” while they recuperate.

Close out the holiday weekend at Canterbury Park with the 5th annual Running of the Bulldogs. On Monday, May 28 come to the track to enjoy live racing, the running of the bulldogs and BBQ from area vendors. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite. Younger fans can enjoy pony rides, face painting and other family-friendly activities. Note: registration is now closed for bulldogs and no outside pets allowed.CEle
