It may be September, but fun is in full swing in RiverSouth. We have four weekends of ye olde fun at the Renaissance Festival, outdoor concerts at Mystic Lake, the final live horse races at Canterbury Park and Valleyfair celebrates the season with the Great Pumpkin Fest and ValleySCARE.
One of the great traditions of September is football. All through the Vikings season, make Mystic Lake your football headquarters. From game day food specials to hotel packages and even rides to the stadium, Mystic Lake is your game day sure bet.
September means it’s time to start planning your visit to Sever’s Fall Festival. Opening Friday, September 7, this family-friendly festival is packed with fun. From the corn maze to live entertainment, and of course apple and pumpkin picking. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 28. Also open Thursday, October 18 for MEA.
The 2018 season is coming to an end at Valleyfair, but you can still celebrate with Dollar Days on Saturday, September 8 and September 15. Enjoy snacks, souvenirs and some of the most exciting games for ONLY a dollar. That’s getting a bang for you buck!
It’s an ode to the Irish on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9 at Renaissance Festival’s Shamrocks & Shenanigans. Take a stroll through an Irish village, kick up your heels with Irish tunes and dancers, or show your loved one how much you care at the new wooing contest.
It’s the last weekend of live racing at Canterbury Park for the season. Friday, September 14, come to the Final Friday for live music, specials and more. Then on Saturday, September 15, head to the track for your last thrill of live racing. You’ll have to wait awhile before you can get your fix again, so make sure you catch the season finale!
It’ll feel like Valentine’s Day in September at the most romantic weekend of the Renaissance Festival with Wine, Chocolate and Romance on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. Partake in the indulgent chocolate festival or watch the epic cupcake battle. Make it a memorable weekend and renew your vows! And new this year are grape stomp and cake smashing competitions.
Alternative rock legends Counting Crows are celebrating 25 years of music at Mystic Lake’s Amphitheater on Sunday, September 16. Know for hits such as “Mr. Jones” and “Accidentally in Love,” you won’t want to miss your chance to relive the ‘90s. Joining the Counting Crows is multi-platinum band +LIVE+. This promises to be a rocking evening.
Gather your friends and head to Canterbury Park for the annual Junk Bonanza. Thursday, September 20 through Saturday, September 22 find vintage, handmade and unique wares you won’t be able to live without. With vendors from around the US, this showcase is full of one-of-a-kind items.
Valleyfair has cooked up a special weekend with their Hotdish & Hops on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. Hotdish & Hops celebrates the best of Minnesotan cuisines and craft beers. Don’t miss out on this deliciously fun festival.
Hear ye, hear ye, pet lovers, the Renaissance Festival is going to the dogs at their 12th annual Pet Fest on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. Dress up your pooch for the doggy costume contest, plus watch the wiener dog races and peanut butter licking contest. New this year, participate in the Ugliest Dog Competition. It’s a weekend of medieval fun for your 4-legged friend.
Valleyfair is your Halloween destination. Your little ghost or goblin can join Snoopy and the rest of the PEANUTS gang for some not-so-scary Halloween fun at the Great Pumpkin Fest. Saturdays and Sundays September 22 through October 28, this family fun outing is full of your favorite rides, live entertainment and fun fall activities.
ValleySCARE returns on Friday, September 22. On Fridays and Saturdays through October 27 be prepared for things that go bump in the night. ValleySCARE is the one of the largest Halloween thrills and scares. With more than 75 rides, haunted mazes, scare zones and monsters prowling the park, there’s a good reason to be afraid! Also open Thursday, October 18 for MEA.
The popular Rock, Brats & Beer is back at Mystic Lake. Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 get ready to rock out to rock legends such as George Thorogood & The Destroyers, John Kay & Steppenwolf, Eric Burdon & The Animals and more. Plus, chow down on festival favorite foods like brats and cool off with a brew. If that isn’t enough, show off your yard game skills in Hammerschlagen, Giant Beer Pong and the Bags Challenge.
Celebrate the last weekend of the Renaissance Festival at Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30. The weekend is a celebration of all things German with a sauerkraut eating contest and lederhosen and dirndl costume contest. Play bier pong and the traditional German game hammerschlagen. And for the gents, break out the beard oil for the beard competition.
The track at Canterbury Park is the fastest in the state when the Indian Motorcycle Minnesota Mile and American Flat Track races take place on Saturday, September 29. Come to the park for a thrilling day of motorcycle races and tricks.
